Navigating Scouts

Sending scouts, or radar vehicles, to the four corners of the map is an excellent way to peel back the fog of war. As a scout reaches its destination, you will be able to view more and more of the map's terrain. Scouts can be controlled with the joystick, the keyboard, or a keyboard/mouse combination.

Tips for Microsoft SideWinder Joystick Owners

The scout is the fastest unit in your arsenal. A skilled player can take advantage of this practiced handling with the joystick. While darting into enemy defenses, you can look around with ease while your craft makes a gradual turn. This gliding effect can keep enemy units from easily tracking you while targeting you.

Joystick Controls

Move the joystick left and right to turn your scout left and right.
Move the joystick back to face your scout up and forward to face your scout down.
Adjust the throttle to move (levitate) your scout up and down.
Press the trigger to move your scout forward. (Note that you cannot have the throttle set in the middle if you want to move forward.)
Release the trigger to slow down to a stop.

Keyboard Controls

Press the LEFT ARROW and RIGHT ARROW keys to turn your scout left and right.
Press the DOWN ARROW key to face up and the UP ARROW key to face down.
Press the A key to move (levitate) up and the Z key to move down.
Press the SPACEBAR to move forward.
Release the SPACEBAR to slow down to a stop.

To grant vehicle control to the mouse, right-click your mouse.
Move the mouse left and right to turn your scout left and right.
Move the mouse back to face up and forward to face down.
Press the A key to move (levitate) up and the Z key to move down.
Left-click your mouse to move forward.
Release the left mouse button to slow down to a stop.
